Vietnam is keen to boost cooperation with Italy in areas of the two nations’ strength like trade, investment, oil and gas, technological transfer, tourism and cultural exchange.
Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai told Vice President of the Italian Chamber of Deputies Marina Sereni at a January 7 reception in Hanoi.
Deputy PM Hai highlighted the Italian guest’s visit as a step forward on the way to bring the strategic partnership to a higher level especially following the two countries’ celebration of the 40th anniversary of diplomatic ties.
He also thanked the Italian Government and people for their support to Vietnam over the past time, particularly the official development assistance (ODA) for national development.
Hai called for great efforts to implement the action plan signed in September 2013. Italy is now the ninth biggest European Union (EU) investor in Vietnam.
Sereni said the joint declaration on the establishment of a strategic partnership and an action plan signed in 2013 will provide a firm foundation for realizing all agreements between the two nations.
Italy will offer the best possible conditions for further promotion of diplomatic, economic and cultural relations, she noted.
