According to the ministry's report, the national caseload has so far increased to 11,414,359. There has been a growing number of infections in the country recorded since August, with many severe cases and unvaccinated deaths accounting for up to 25% of the total infections.
On September 1, an additional 9,027 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to over 10.18 million.
On Thursday evening, no deaths from Covid-19 were recorded, the country's total fatalities stayed at 43,117, accounting for 0.4 per cent of total infections.
By September 1, the country had injected over 257 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines.
The People's Committee of Hanoi has asked local districts and towns to speed up Covid-19 vaccination to deal with the current spike of new cases.
Ho Chi Minh City officials are also working on increasing the relatively low Covid-19 vaccination rate among children. The municipal Department of Health will focus on vaccinations throughout September, even during the Independence Day holidays, which lasted from September 1 to 4.
