National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines has decided to halt all of its flights from and to South Korea from March 5 due to coronavirus outbreak.
According to Vietnam Airlines, following the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV), all of its flights from South Korea have landed at Van Don International Airport in the northern province of Quang Ninh, Phu Cat Airport in the southern central province of Binh Dinh and Can Tho Airport in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho.
The resumption of Vietnam-South Korea flights will depend on the coronavirus situation.
Vietnam Airlines has sterilised all planes serving the route.
Bamboo Airways was the first airline in Vietnam to cease its flights to South Korea.
Budget carrier Jetstar Pacific has also suspended its flights to and from South Korea.
The Vietnamese government have suspended visa waivers for South Koreans from February 29 in order to help coronavirus prevention.
Vietnamese airlines are expected to sustain VND25 trillion (USD1 billion) in lost revenue this year due to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak, instead of the VND10 trillion announced half a month ago, said the CAAV.
