The festival will take place at APEC Park and Ngoc Linh ginseng-growing areas on August 1-3, featuring 10 cultural, scientific, trade, investment and tourism events.
Vice Chairman of the Danang People's Committee Ho Quang Buu said the city aims to strengthen the Vietnam Ginseng brand and raise the international profile of Ngoc Linh ginseng.
Products displayed at the festival would undergo origin verification and quality inspections, while efforts to combat counterfeit and substandard products would be stepped up to protect consumers and the reputation of the herb.
Around 60 exhibitors from Vietnam and overseas are expected to showcase Ngoc Linh ginseng, other medicinal herbs and products used in pharmaceuticals, healthcare, food, cosmetics and herbal processing.
The programme will also include an international scientific conference, cultural events, tours of ginseng-growing areas and investment promotion activities linking researchers, businesses and investors.
According to local authorities, Danang aims to make the festival an annual event while promoting herbal medicine, wellness tourism and sustainable development of Vietnam's medicinal plant industry.
