Police at Tân Sơn Nhất Airport have seized an estimated US$1 million in cash, which two men had hidden in their baggage and intended to take to Bangkok, Thailand.
Customs found the currency dyed black with chemicals.
After scanning the bag at the Tân Sơn Nhất Airport on Thursday raised suspicions, customs examined the bags more closely.
Customs discovered their two suitcases had 12 stacks of notes covered with a black chemical. The notes appeared to be US$100 bills. The serial numbers are not visible.
The two passengers are T.C.T., 50 and N.K.V., 46. Both are Vietnamese citizens.
The estimated value of the currency is about $1 million. The two passengers planned to travel on flight VJ803.
Police investigations are continuing.
