The accident happened at around 2 pm on National Highway 6, the section running through Dong Bang Commune, Mai Chau District.
A motorbike sidecar controlled by an American, transporting an American woman on the way from Hanoi to Son La crashed into a truck running in the opposite direction. A boy cycling was also hit by the truck.

According to Mai Chau District’s police, both sidecar and the truck were seriously damaged. The female victim died right on the spot, while the man suffered injuries to his legs.
Colonel Pham Van Su, Deputy Director of Hoa Binh Police Department, said that the department has co-operated with provincial Department of Foreign Affairs and the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to deal with the case.
