US supports higher technical education

This was announced at a signing ceremony for the program in Hanoi on August 20, attended representatives of the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training (MoET), the General Department of Vocational Training, the US Agency for International Development (USAID), the Intel Corporation and Arizona State University (ASU).

The HEEAP was started in 2010 with initial investment commitments of $2.5 million from Intel Vietnam, $2 million from USAID and $400,00 from ASU. So far, more than 100 lecturers from from engineering faculties at Vietnam’s leading universities and colleges have been trained under the program at ASU.

MoET Deputy Minister Bui Van Ga said Vietnam is very satisfied with HEEAP’s results, and engineering teaching in the country has made significant progress.

A total of 1,000 lecturers will be trained under HEEAP. The program has so far received investment commitments worth US$40 million from partners in Vietnam, USAID, ASU and businesses, as well as $7 million from Intel and $4 million from the MoET.
