On the Reunification Day (April 30) and International Labour Day (May 1) national holidays, Hai Tien tourist site attracted over 77,000 visitors. However, many of them showed their dissatisfaction with rampant business activities on the beach and particularly the hand-shaped watch towers.

The towers are recently built for security guards to watch swimmers at the beach and also serve as check-in spots for tourists.
However, despite being put into use for a short period of time, the towers have already started to deteriorate because of their rushed construction for the holidays.
No lifeguards were employed either.
It is easy to see the exposure of many screws and bolts at the towers, posing safety risks to visitors.
Additionally, many visitors complained that the towers were occupying a quite large area on the beach.
