Two new imported Covid-19 patients confirmed on Friday evening, total rises to 1,212

According to the ministry's report, one of the two new patients is a 54-year-old man who returned from Russia at Van Don International Airport in Quang Ninh Province on October 31.

He was sent to a quarantine area in Ha Long City upon arrival and tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 at the third testing on November 5.

The patient is now being treated at the Hanoi-based Hospital for Tropical Diseases.

The second patient is a 50-year-old woman who arrived at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City on October 21 from France.

She was sent to quarantine in Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province upon arrival and is now being treated at the Long Dien District Healthcare Centre.

With these new infection cases, the number of imported Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 521.

As of 6 pm on November 6, a total of 1,070 Covid-19 patients had recovered and been discharged from hospital. There have been 35 deaths, most of them being the elderly with serious underlying diseases.

The country has gone 65 days without reporting any new case in the community.

At present, over 14,000 people who had close contact with Covid-19 patients or returned from virus-hit areas are being monitored at hospitals, quarantine facilities, and at home.
