According to a report from the police, they carried out a check at a house at 35 Vo Thi Sau Street in Long Dien District on Thursday evening and found over 420 kilos of fire-crackers that had been made in China. The house's owner, Vo Duy Tan said that he bought the crackers from Duong Tan Nghia at VND 222.70 million (USD 9,280) and would resell them during the run-up to the Lunar New Year.

The firecrackers seized at Vo Duy Tan's place
The use of firecrackers at parties and celebrations such as weddings and the Lunar New Year Festival was a long-lasting practice in Vietnam. However, the government has banned the production, trade, and use of firecrackers since 1995 due to several fatal accidents and damage caused.
