Two die in a sinking in Quang Nam
At 11 am, 11 people from Hoi Son Village travelled by boat to the Thuan Tinh eco-tourism area and returned at 3 pm. However, on the way back, the boat suddenly began taking on water and sank near Cua Dai Bridge. Since the location is near an estuary and the accident occurred when the tide was receding, the rescuers faced many difficulties while searching for the missing people.
Nguyen Truong Nam, vice chairman of Duy Nghia Commune People's Committee, said after receiving the information, they had publicly broadcasted the news to call for help from the public. Many people have used their own boats to search for the victims.
Phan Viet Cuong, party secretary of Quang Nam, Le Tri Thanh, chairman of Quang Nam People's Committee and Nguyen Duc Dung, director of Quang Nam Department of Public Security arrived at the scene to direct the search and rescue mission.
As of 8 pm, they had rescued six people and found two bodies. Three other people are still missing.
