Speaking with Dantri/Dtinews on Monday morning, Chairman of Phuc Hoa District People's Committee, Dinh Be Hoan said that the two bodies were found on August 11 on the Bac Vong River which runs to China.
“The bodies of two women Hoang Thi Niem, 49, and Nong Thi Sen, 33, have been recovered and transferred to their families," the official said. "We’re still trying to look for a man, Hoang Van Hao, 32, who also went missing when the raft sank.”
According to Hoan, the three went with a group of people who were trying to get to China using a hand-made raft. It seemed that the raft was overloaded before sinking at 1 am on August 11.
“The rescue work faced lots of difficulties as the accident occurred at night and the river had strong current due to rising floods," the official added.
Local authorities have also called for help from Chinese authorities to look for the missing man.
