According to reports from local authorities, the accident occurred on a railway crossing near Pham Van Thuan Street at around 9 pm when the car carrying four people suddenly ran through the closed barrier at high speed and crashed into the passing train.
The intense crash pushed the car onto Pham Van Thuan Street where it hit an environmental worker who died on the spot. One child fell out of the car and also died, while the car driver, another adult and a child were seriously injured.
The car is heavily damaged.
Some witnesses said that a railway staff member had closed the barrier and blew his whistle before the train arrived at the crossing, but the car still ran through at a high speed.
Police are further investigating the case.
