On October 10, northern and north-central provinces are expected to see mostly sunny days, with light showers possible in some areas at night. This pattern will likely persist in Hanoi and across much of the northern region until October 13.
Between October 14 and 16, a weak cold front is set to move in, bringing moderate to heavy rain and scattered thunderstorms, with some areas facing very heavy rainfall.
A stronger cold spell is forecast to arrive on the night of October 18 and may last until October 23.
Meteorologists said this year’s cold weather is likely to intensify from mid-October, with more frequent and stronger cold fronts expected in November and December. Severe cold conditions could hit the north from late December, while average national temperatures in October are forecast to align with seasonal norms before dipping by around 0.5 degrees Celsius through the final two months of the year.
Cold fronts are predicted to remain active through January and February 2026 before gradually weakening from March.
