Many areas in the northern and central regions have faced flooding due to torrential rain over the past two days.
Many cars are flooded at the Ecohome 3 Apartment Building in Bac Tu Liem District on May 23.
Some districts in Hanoi had seen heavy rain due to the impact of a low-pressure area in the last 12 hours since Sunday night, with Son Tay Town reporting rainfall of 170 mm, Hoai Duc District 150 mm, Ha Dong District 120 mm, Ba Vi District 90 mm and Lang Street 50 mm.
Several streets around the Ecohome 3 Apartment Building in Hanoi's Bac Tu Liem District were deeply submerged on the morning of May 23.
Resident Nguyen Dinh Hung, told Dantri/Dtinews that the rain had started on early May 22 and by 6 am on May 23, many surrounding areas had been flooded with some being put 500 centimetres under water.
Heavy rains have also flooded many areas in the northern province of Vinh Phuc.
Chairman of Vinh Yen City People's Committee, Nguyen Viet Phuong told Dantri/Dtinews on May 23 that at least four wards had reported serious flooding.
"Some streets including Nguyen Tat Thanh and Me Linh were deeply inundated, causing difficulties for motorbike drivers, " the official said. "We've asked relevant departments to urgently deal with the flooding, direct traffic on flooded roads and put warnings up at dangerous areas."
In the central provinces of Nghe An, some districts of Que Phong, and Quy Chau have been isolated due to flooding.
Rising floods in Quy Chau District have isolated over 500 households when many bridges and the National Road 48 were damaged.
The northern and central Vietnam regions are forecasted to see rain levels up to 250 mm on Monday and Tuesday.
