The accident occurred on the afternoon of May 22 along a section of the Tra Khuc River flowing through Minh Khanh Hamlet in Truong Giang Commune.

According to local authorities, the three children, aged between 11 and 13, had gone to the river for a swim when the incident happened.
Residents who discovered the accident alerted local officials, prompting an overnight search operation involving rescue forces and local people.
By the morning of May 23, authorities had recovered the bodies of all three children.
