Three Bengal tiger cubs born at Quy Nhon zoo

Bengal tiger has given birth to three healthy cubs at a zoo in Quy Nhon Dong Ward, Gia Lai Province.

The cubs were born after a gestation period of about 113 days at. They are being nursed entirely by their mother and are under close monitoring by animal care staff.

“The enclosure is kept strictly undisturbed while the mother nurses. Cleaning and health checks are carried out daily to detect any abnormalities early,” said Nguyen Ham Minh Duc, who oversees animal care at the facility.

Bengal tiger pregnancies typically last 105-115 days, and cubs begin transitioning to meat at around 45 days old, he added.

The zoo plans to set up a dedicated viewing area during the Hung Kings’ Commemoration Day and Reunification Day (April 30)-May 1 holidays, allowing visitors to see the cubs at close range.

The semi-wildlife park spans about 130 hectares and houses nearly 1,000 animals across more than 40 species, including rare ones such as gibbons, leopards, Asiatic black bears and elephants.
