According to MARD, the proposed area is quite near Hon Cau maritime reserves so the dumping would badly affect its ecosystem.

The mud is in the list of industrial wastes which are allowed to be dumped, it is necessary to find a suitable place for the work to ensure for maritime creatures.

In this case, the plant’s recommended dumping place covers up to 10 kilometres of sea, which would have a negative impact on the maritime ecosystem.

The waste must be carefully stored to avoid the risk of leaking into the sea.
