Tay Ninh proposes VND4.7-trillion airport

Authorities in the southern province of Tay Ninh have proposed the construction of a VND4.7 trillion (USD185.41 million) airport.

Under the recommendation sent to the Ministry of Transport, the proposed airport would cover a total area of 420 hectares in Phuoc Ninh Commune, Duong Minh Chau District. It is approximately 74 kilometres from Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City and 106 kilometres from Long Thanh International Airport in Dong Nai Province.

Tay Ninh Airport will be designed according to ICAO's international 4E standards and will have a capacity of 1 million passengers annually.

The project area has flat terrain and a sparse population, making it convenient for site clearance.

The project is expected to be carried out during 2026-2030.

Of the total investment, VND711 billion will be sourced from the state budget for site clearance and compensation. Meanwhile, the remainder will be raised from investors through a public-private partnership (PPP) model.

Once the project is approved, the Tay Ninh People's Committee will call for investment from both domestic and international investors.
