Many people have opted to use apartments, shares and even women as special gifts for their bosses on the occasion of Tet holiday.

Apartments for the bosses
While usually Tet gifts can be quite generous, because of the economic situation, gift-giving is more tame this year, leading many to find creative ways to give gifts in tough times.
Many of the higher-ups working in the real estate sector have decided to give apartments as gifts to their bosses instead of anything traditional.
“Our company has invested in several apartment projects in Hanoi’s Ha Dong District. The construction has been basically completed but dozens of apartments are still unsold. We are short on capital this year and have had to lay off workers, some for months," said an official from a construction firm in Hanoi.
For this reason, he said, they decided to give apartments to senior management bosses as gifts.
Some of these apartments are worth VND2 billion (USD95,831), he said, adding that, "I'm sure the recipients will be very happy, but the company expects them to help access to capital for finishing construction on the apartments," he said.

Nguyen Van Q used female staff as "Tet bonus"
The economy also presents a problem on this special occasion for other employees. Wanting to please his boss with an expensive gift, yet not being able to, Nguyen Van Q, who is managing several hotels and restaurants in Hanoi, contemplated making a gift of a female staff.
“It’s really difficult to choose a gift for senior bosses. Presents should be expensive. While I was racking my brain for an idea, my wife suggested presenting my boss a unique gift: one of our female staff,” he revealed.
He noted that the staff was beautiful and single. The boss seemed pleased with the present.
He added, "I think it was a very good choice as a Tet gift, because afterwards the boss came to our house for a meal and pledged to continue our business together."
