Stormy weather set to hit the East Sea in June

Tropical depressions and storms are expected to strike the East Sea this June, with activity forecast at levels typical of previous years.

The National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting reports that the nationwide average temperature will likely match the multi-year average. However, temperatures in the northern region may rise by 0.5 to 1 degree Celsius above the norm for this time of year.

Rainfall across most of the country is projected to stay close to long-term averages, though the north-central region could receive 15 to 25 per cent more rain than usual.

Meteorologists anticipate several episodes of widespread heavy rain in the northern and north-central regions. A strengthening southwest monsoon will probably bring more frequent and intense rainfall to the Central Highlands and southern areas. Hazardous weather events, such as thunderstorms, lightning, hail and strong winds, may continue throughout the country.

Forecasters predict tropical storms and depressions will impact the East Sea in June, disrupting maritime activity. At the same time, intensifying heat waves may increase the risk of fires and explosions in northern and central provinces.

Authorities urge local governments and relevant agencies to issue timely disaster warnings. Residents are expected to follow official prevention and response measures and closely monitor forecasts and warnings regularly on the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting’s official website (nchmf.gov.vn) and through local and regional meteorological stations.
