Tri An Reservoir, which covers a total area of 323 square kilometres, serves the Tri An Hydropower Plant. Over the past years, it has supplied water for more than 10 million people in HCM City and the provinces of Dong Nai and Binh Duong.

People can even drive their motorbikes or cars through the dry bed sections. It is also easy to see dead fish in the dried sections

According to many local residents, the reservoir’s water level is often low between May and June every year, but it had been for over a decade.

Vo Tan Nhan, Director of the Try An Hydropower Company, said that on May 7, the reservoir’s water level was measured at 50.5 metres, the lowest over the past 12 years.
