Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Candith Mashego-Dlamini receives Vietnamese Vice State President Vo Thi Anh Xuan upon her arrival at O.R. Tambo International Airport on September 13 evening (local time)
Among those present at O.R. Tambo International Airport were Vietnamese Ambassador to South Arica Hoang Sy Cuong, Chief Director: Central, South & South East Asia at the Department of International Relations and Cooperation Sindiswa Mququ, Suth African Ambassador to Vietnam Vuyiswa Tulelo.
During her stay, Xuan is expected to hold talks with her South African counterpart and witness the signing of several cooperation agreements between the two countries.
She will also meet with the General Secretaries of the ruling African National Congress (ANC), the Communist Party of South Africa, the President of the South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry and leaders of several localities and businesses.
She will cut the ribbon to launch the Vietnamese Culture Space, and attend a ceremony to mark Vietnam’s 78th National Day, and the 30th founding anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties.
South Africa is Vietnam’s largest trading partner and largest export market, with two-way trade hitting US$1.3 billion last year. The two countries have maintained sessions of the intergovernment cooperation committee and the joint trade commission.
Currently, Vietnam has three projects operational in South Africa, while South Africa has 19 operating projects in Vietnam.
