A street in Son La City faces flooding on August 28.
A local man in Son La City, Nguyen Duy Ha, said the rain that lasted some six hours from early Monday morning had put many streets under water, causing difficulties for travellers.
"The water is flowing to the Nam La Spring and may lead to flash floods," Ha said.
In Quynh Nhai District, heavy rains have caused flooding on the National Road 6B and some farms.

The Provincial Road 110 running through Na Bo Commune has also been submerged as flood water from Nam Pan Spring is rising fast.
Deputy Director of Son La Transport Department, Nguyen Van Chinh, said that they are preparing to deal with possible floods and landslides in many areas to ensure safe travelling following rains of up to 110 mm.
