SMEs to receive funding of ¥15 billion

A framework agreement on re-loaning the third stage of the Small & Medium Enterprise Finance Program with total credits of ¥15 billion was signed in Hanoi.

A framework agreement on re-loaning the third stage of the Small & Medium Enterprise Finance Program (SMEFP III) with total credits of ¥15 billion was signed on March 17 in Hanoi.

According to the Vietnamese government, the agreement was signed by the ODA-funded Projects Management Board, the State Bank of Vietnam, and 17 financial institutions which are state-run and joint stock commercial banks..

The project aims at providing medium and long-term loans to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) via the financial institutions as well as facilitating their access to financial sources.

Besides, the State Bank and other major financial institutions of the project will receive technical assistance to enhance their capacity of funding SMEs.

SMEFP, funded by the Japanese Government via the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), has completed two phases with the funds of over ¥8 billion since 2003.
