Nghe An Provincial Police Department said on August 17 that officers discovered the pangolin at about 8.15 pm on August 14 while patrolling Ngu Loc area.

The patrol team took the animal to their unit, where it was protected and cared for. The pangolin weighed nearly 7 kilos and is classified as an endangered and rare species.
On the morning of August 15, police handed the animal over to the Vinh Loc Ward People's Committee. The committee then arranged for it to be transported to Pu Mat National Park for further rehabilitation, care and monitoring.
Authorities urged residents who find wild animals, particularly endangered and rare species, to notify the relevant authorities and refrain from hunting, buying, selling, transporting or keeping them illegally.
