The Ministry of Health announced on the morning of March 18 that the 36-year-old man travelled with the 61st Covid-19 patient, who are both from the southern central province of Ninh Thuan, to Malaysia on February 27 and returned to Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City on March 4.

The two men are said to have attended a religious festival in Kuala Lumpur with some 16,000 people during the time in Malaysia.

The 61st patient, a 42-year-old man, tested positive with SARS-CoV-2 on March after showing viral infection symptoms.

The two are now being treated at the Ninh Thuan Provincial General Hospital.

16 other people who were in close contact with the two patients have also been moved for quarantine at the hospital.

Vietnamese authorities are calling for others who joined this festival to contact with local Centres for Diseases Control for health monitoring.
