
The Voice of Russia cited a Russian defense source as saying that the delivery of the planes to Vietnam was part of a contract, worth USD1 billion, to buy a total of 12 fighter jets. The contract included not only the planes, but armaments, equipment and other parts.
The SU-30MK2 is a multipurpose fighter that can hit both ground and sea targets and can fly to long ranges because they are equipped with in-flight refueling systems.
