Rising Cau River water isolates over 1,200 households in Hanoi

Rapidly rising Cau River water levels have isolated more than 1,200 households with over 5,000 residents in Trung Gia Commune, Hanoi, following heavy rains and upstream inflows.

Nguyen Ba Hoang, chairman of Trung Gia Commune, dismissed social media rumours about a dike breach, saying the situation remains under control. The river’s water level at Luong Phuc Station has reached nine metres, exceeding alarm level 3, with temporary dike sections rising higher than forecast.

Flooding has cut off access to 1,262 households with 5,030 residents across Hoa Binh, Do Tan, An Lac and Village 5. “We promptly evacuated elderly people, children, and some adults to safety. Basically, all residents and their belongings are secure,” Hoang said.
