According to local authorities, on Tuesday, a couple in Tan Xa Village, Ba Long Commune found some remains while working on their family’s construction site. The case was reported to local authorities.

The area where the 40 sets of human remains were found
Local authorities then conducted a deeper search and detected a total of 40 sets of remains in the area at a depth of 0.5-1.4 metres.
Many belongings of the soldiers were also found in the grave such as shoes and belts.
The grave is thought to be the place where 53 soldiers of Regiment 6 under the command of Thua Thien Hue Military Zone were buried.
Quang Tri authorities conducted several searches in the past for the bodies of soldiers.
The search has continued being expanded in the area.
Ba Long was a military base in Quan Tri during the American War.
