Red sand accumulates on the road surface to create a thick and mushy layer, severely affecting traffic. Some cars have got stuck when trying to go through the mud.
Vehicles to the Ham Tien-Mui Ne tourist area are instructed to travel through Vo Nguyen Giap Street instead of Nguyen Thong Street to avoid the mud.
Red sand has also blanketed the yards of some houses along Nguyen Thong Street.
Excavators and bulldozers were mobilised to the scene to clear the red sand. Representatives from the city’s authorities were present to oversee the work.
According to the locals, they have often faced red sand spills during heavy rain
