Rare turtle rescued on Con Dao beach

A rare green turtle weighing around 80 kilos has been rescued after being stranded at a beach in Con Dao District in the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau.

A rare green turtle weighing around 80 kilos has been rescued after being stranded at a beach in Con Dao District in the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau.

The turtle which is 102 cm long was found by some tourists on Lo Voi Beach which is located at Con Dao National Park.

The turtle was found at Lo Voi Beach


Tourists contacted the park’s management board to report the situation.

The board then cooperated with the local forest rangers to help the animal back into the sea.

The turtle has the scientific name of Chelonioidea, and is at global risk of extinction.

Vietnam has carried out many sea turtle preservation activities. Con Dao National Park is the first place which has succeeded in turtle preservation.
