Authorities in the central city of Danang have just caught a rare python that a local resident found on a tree.
The Danang Forest Ranger Department announced that a man in Ha Huy Tap Street found the five-kilo python on a tree in a local residential area on Thursday afternoon.
Suspecting that it might be a rare animal, the man informed the local forest rangers, who then arrived to check it.
The animal was then defined as a ground python, listed in the Vietnamese Red Book as an endangered rare animal.
The forest rangers co-operated with the police to catch the wild python, which was 80-cm long and weighed five kilos.
Authorities will monitor and check the animal's health before releasing it back into the wild.
