Police in Quang Ngai Province have charged a woman accused of producing and selling counterfeit liquor by mixing industrial alcohol with tap water.
On August 3, provincial police said they had prosecuted Luu Thi Thuy, 52, from Kon Tum Ward, on charges of manufacturing and trading counterfeit food and beverages.

According to the Economic Police Division, officers inspected Thuy's liquor business and discovered 103 plastic containers, each with a capacity of 30 litres, filled with a cloudy white liquid.
Among the seized items were nine containers of industrial alcohol and 80 containers holding more than 200 litres of finished liquor that had allegedly been mixed and prepared for sale.

During questioning, Thuy admitted purchasing high-strength alcohol of unknown origin before mixing it with tap water to produce white liquor for sale to consumers, investigators said.
Authorities warned that liquor made from industrial alcohol or alcohol of unknown origin may contain methanol, which can cause severe poisoning and may be fatal.
Police in Quang Ngai Province said the investigation is continuing.
