Quang Ngai Province has begun construction of a new bridge over the Tra Khuc River, with an investment of nearly VND 2.2 trillion (USD 84.7 million).
Quang Ngai authorities on October 8 began construction of Tra Khuc 1 Bridge, a project designed to replace the existing bridge, which is more than 60 years old.

The project includes the bridge and approach roads, with a total length of about 830 metres. The bridge itself will be more than 577 metres long and 28 metres wide.
The structure will feature four self-anchored suspension spans, with composite steel-concrete girders and prestressed reinforced concrete. Viewing platforms will be built around the bridge towers, alongside lighting and architectural decoration systems.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Nguyen Duc Tam, chairman of the Quang Ngai People's Committee, said the existing Tra Khuc 1 Bridge had served generations of local residents and become a familiar landmark on the Tra Khuc River.
The new project is intended to preserve the values associated with the existing bridge while meeting the province's development needs, he said.
The bridge is expected to improve connectivity, expand Quang Ngai's urban development space and better serve residents' travel needs.
