Hanoi Eye Hospital in coordination with Fred Hollows Foundation and Standard Chartered Bank has provided eye check-ups for 200 children in the four precincts of Hoan Kiem, Hai Ba Trung, Dong Da and Ba Dinh.

Doctors checked eye malformation, such as squint, cataract, entropion, corneal protuberance, weak eyesight and glaucoma on June 28.
Children with weak eyesight will enjoy a 15 percent discount for ten-day training at the hospital.
Hospital director Vu Thi Thanh said children are the future of the country so we should provide them with the best things. Children with disabilities should be provided with special care from family and doctors.
She committed that the hospital will offer free eye surgery for children on the occasion.
Standard Chartered Bank also presented 200 gifts worth VND6 million for children.
In 2010, Hanoi Eye Hospital provided free direct eye check-ups for 38,102 children and free surgery for 82 others under the sponsorship of Fred Hollows Foundation and SCB.
In addition, a wide range of activities to promote eye care and protection were launched at schools, such as a “bright eyes at school” contest, and “A bright eye doctor” cartoon video, free eye check-ups for children in 14 precincts and districts and a seminar on refraction diseases and protective measures.
