At the Han River estuary below Thuan Phuoc Bridge in Hai Chau Ward, waves crashed onto Nhu Nguyet Street, damaging about 200 metres of the riverfront and eroding sections of the embankment by four to five metres. Authorities fenced off the area for safety.

Resident Nguyen Van Trung said strong winds often drove waves across the road and into houses. From the afternoon of October 21 to midday on October 22, seawater repeatedly flooded homes along the street.

Reinforcement work on the embankment was suspended as waves intensified. Deputy Chairman Le Quang Nam of the Danang People’s Committee inspected the site and ordered prompt repairs after the storm.

Nhu Nguyet Street, which stretches about 1.5 kilometres from the end of Bach Dang Street to the foot of Thuan Phuoc Bridge, lies at the river mouth and is frequently battered by waves during storms, damaging the embankment and loosening pavement tiles.

For safety, authorities cordoned off a section of Nhu Nguyet Street near Thuan Phuoc Bridge, banning vehicle access.

The National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that by 1 am on October 23, the storm had weakened into a tropical depression over the Hue-Danang area, moving west-southwest at about 10 km/h before gradually dissipating. The system is expected to bring heavy rain to central Vietnam until late October 24.
