Doan Van Tam, 35, from Tan Chau Commune, is facing great pains due to leukaemia. The chemotherapy has caused him to lose his hair.
Tam is struggling with leukaemia
Tam said he got married to Nguyen Thi Ha in 2013 and they had a daughter, Doan Thao Phuong. He worked as a salesman for a firm in Thanh Hoa City, while his wife worked at a printing company. In 2017, his wife was diagnosed with liver cancer and died just one month later.
Early last year, he decided to run his own business. However, because of the Covid-19 pandemic, he went bankrupt with debts of nearly VND1 billion (USD43,103).
In April this year, he suddenly faced severe headaches and was diagnosed with leukaemia. He has had to sell his house to repay his debts and afford the treatment. Now, Tam is staying at his relative’s house.

According to doctors, Tam needs a marrow transplant, which is beyond his family’s reach. Tam’s father is so worried about him that he has suffered symptoms of depression. The man has mostly kept silent over the past three months.
Meanwhile, because of a herniated disc, Tam’s mother mainly stays at home.
Do Duy Lan, head of Village 1 in Tan Chau Commune, said that Tam’s family is in a very difficult situation. He hoped that donors could assist him.
