The couple Nguyen Van Minh, 43, and Bui Thi Cuc, 38, from Loc Ha District’s Ich Hau Commune have three children aged between four and 15.

Cuc was diagnosed with colorectal cancer in June last year following a bellyache. She is taken to hospital for chemotherapy every 20 days. Each time costs around VND10 million (USD431,034).
Minh has sold all valuable assets at his house for his wife’s treatment.
Meanwhile, the couple’s youngest son who is four years old has not yet been able to speak. But, the family can’t afford treatment for the boy.
Because of the Covid-19-pandemic, in May last year, Minh left the southern region where he worked to return home. This has worsened the family’s financial difficulties.
Cuc is now using a catheter and she has to depend on the support of her husband and her children. Every day, her nine-year-old second child feeds her.
Nguyen Duc Quan, chairman of Ich Hau Commune’s Red Cross, said that Minh’s family is among the poorest in the locality. He hoped that donors can join hands to assist them.
