The Pilot & Technician Outlook predicts a demand for 533,000 new pilots throughout the world over the next 20 years with most of this demand - 216,000 pilots - will be in Asia, followed by Europe and North America.
In Vietnam, the aviation market witnessed rapid growth in recent years, leading to high demand of pilots and airplanes.
An International Air Transport Association report released in 2015 showed that Vietnam was the 7th fastest growing market in the globe in 2014-2017, mainly thanks to tourism development, the opening of boundaries, stable economic development and the presence of low-cost carriers.
According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV), about 52.2 million passengers traveled to Vietnam by air in 2016, an increase of 29% over 2015.
By the end of November 2016, Vietnam’s air carriers had used 150 airplanes to carry passengers, up 10% over 2015. Under the draft strategy on the air fleet development in 2016-2020, the number of aircraft to be used by domestic airlines would be 230.
At the meeting, Government chief also called for Boeing company’s support for Vietnam to host the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week, scheduled to take place in Da Nang City from November 6-11.
