Plain-clothed traffic police will soon be patrolling Vietnam’s streets, according to a new Ministry of Public Security Circular.

Plain-clothed traffic police will soon be patrolling Vietnam’s streets, according to the recently issued Ministry of Public Security Circular 65 which regulates the responsibilities and operations of road traffic police.

Plain-clothed officers will be allowed to use technical devices to monitor speeding and other offences.

Under-cover police officers will be obliged to show their identification cards when apprehending people.

The circular will take effect from December 22.
