According to some residents, several vehicles were on the bridge when it collapsed.
Local authorities in Tam Nong District said that concerned agencies were conducting search and rescue activities, so final casualties and damage have not yet been reported.
Many northern localities, including Phu Tho, have been facing heavy rain due to the impact of Typhoon Yagi.
