The campaign was launched by the Lien Huong Commune People's Committee in the La Gan coastal area, part of the former Tuy Phong District in Binh Thuan Province.
Participants included members of the armed forces, local militia, youth union members and residents.
They were divided into groups to collect rubbish along the coast before sorting and transporting it for disposal.
Large amounts of waste had washed ashore at Co May Beach, including pieces of wood, foam boxes, fishing gear, single-use plastic cups and bowls, plastic bags and old clothing.
Nguyen Tuan, a local resident, said the clean-up had restored the beach and helped raise fishermen's awareness of marine protection.
The La Gan coastal area stretches for more than two kilometres, with rocky headlands extending into the sea and forming a series of curved bays.
Home to the La Gan fishing community, the area also provides diving sites and sheltered waters for boats during storms.
La Gan fishing village has also attracted visitors with its coastal scenery, rocky shoreline, Binh An Communal House and Ong Nam Hai Temple.
