Petrol prices rise, diesel falls in latest adjustment

Vietnam’s fuel prices moved in opposite directions on Thursday in the latest biweekly adjustment, with petrol prices rising and those of diesel and other fuels falling.

Under a joint decision by the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the price of E5 RON 92 petrol rose by VND 90 to VND 19,220 per litre, while RON 95 petrol increased by VND 180 to VND 19,900 per litre.

Diesel fell by VND 180 to VND 18,420 per litre, kerosene by VND 30 to VND 18,400, and mazut by VND 430 per kilogramme to VND 14,370 per kilogramme.

The authorities did not use the Fuel Price Stabilisation Fund this time.

The rise marks a rebound in domestic petrol prices after a single reduction. Since the start of the year, RON 95 petrol has increased 24 times and been cut 19 times, while diesel has seen 21 increases and 20 decreases.
