Thousands of people flocked to beaches in the southern central province of Binh Dinh’s Quy Nhon City on the Doan Ngo Festival or Pest-killing Festival.
Doan Ngo Festival or the fifth day of the fifth lunar month is a Vietnamese tradition, that falls today, June 22.


Traditional dishes are offered to ancestors and prayers are made for good crops and business, and good luck during a new season. People in many coastal localities often go to local beaches for swimming, hoping that this will help rid them of all diseases and bring them luck.

On Thursday noon, despite the hot weather, beaches along An Duong Vuong Street in Quy Nhon were crowded with people who celebrated the Doan Ngo Festival. Children were keen on bathing.

Lots of people brought cans of water home for their family members to bathe with the wish of good health and luck.
