General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam will pay a state visit to the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) and attend the 80th founding anniversary of the Workers’ Party of Korea, from October 9 to 11, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The invitation has been extended by Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and President of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

Vietnam and the DPRK established diplomatic relations on January 31, 1950. Over the past 75 years, the traditional friendship and cooperation between the two nations have been consistently valued and nurtured by their respective Parties, States, and peoples.

Earlier this year, on January 31, the Vietnamese leaders exchanged congratulatory messages with the leaders of the DPRK marking the 75th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties.

In their messages, the Vietnamese leaders affirmed that the traditional friendship, forged by President Ho Chi Minh of Vietnam and President Kim Il Sung of the DPRK, and cultivated by successive generations of leaders and citizens, has continuously grown stronger.

They said the Party, State, and people of Vietnam attach great importance to strengthening practical and comprehensive cooperation with the DPRK, in line with the aspirations of both peoples and each country’s international commitments, and for peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the region and beyond.
