Outstanding teachers and pupils nation-wide have been honoured by the Ministry of Education and Training for their achievements.

Outstanding teachers and pupils honoured

Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh, head of the National Assembly Committee for Culture, Education, Youth, Adolescents and Children Phan Thanh Binh and Minister of Education and Training Phung Xuan Nha attended the ceremony.

126 outstanding teachers who have innovative ideas in teaching and 126 pupils with good academic results received awards. Most of the students had won prizes in national contests or had good scores in high school entrance exam.

One of the most notable case is 2nd grader Vo Huong Giang in Thai Binh Province. She was the youngest winner but had the most achievements. She also won the first prize in the traditional singing contest for primary school pupils.

Nguyen Thien Phu was paralysed in both legs but he managed to get into Quoc Hoc Hue High School for the gifted and won high scores in the national English contest. There are also 11 pupils from ethnic groups were honoured at the ceremony.

Le Thi Hien Thao, a teacher at Bach Duong Nursery School, won an award for creating equipment to aid the teaching processes which were still enjoyable and attractive to young children.

Minister of Education and Training Phung Xuan Nha encouraged more ideas to improve the quality of education. He emphasised a friendly, open environment for both pupils and teachers and announced the innovative teaching and studying movement for the 2016-2020 period.

During the ceremony, he also called for support for flood victims in the central region.
