The new system is designed to be user-friendly and efficient, allowing passengers to purchase tickets quickly and conveniently.
Travellers can book by selecting departure and arrival stations, travel date, and train MR1 on the website, then follow the payment instructions. After completing payment, a “Payment Receipt” is issued via email or on-screen as confirmation. However, passengers are required to collect their physical tickets at the station before boarding.
Passengers should arrive at least one hour before departure to collect their tickets, which are available within five hours of the train’s departure time. A valid passport with visa and the online payment receipt must be presented at the ticket counter for verification.
The ticket itself is the only valid document for international train travel, and each payment receipt may be used once to collect a ticket. In the event of loss, passengers must purchase a new ticket in accordance with current regulations. Tickets are also available directly at railway stations nationwide.
According to VNR, from May 26 to September 30 this year, the Gia Lam-Nanning international train service carried around 8,400 passengers, of whom 75 per cent were Chinese, 20 per cent Vietnamese, and 5 per cent from other countries.
