The online forum, called "Speak English like natives", was held today, June 15, and provided guidance to English learners who were interested in perfecting their speaking and listening skills.
During the forum a whole host of questions was answered by a panel from ACC. Most of them centered around the most effective ways to improve spoken English and listening skills as well as some realistic expectations a student should have for their study of the language. While all the questions could not be answered because of the large volume the panel members were able to give a lot of helpful, practical advice on the subject.
In addition, participants were given information about a scholarship programme named “Golden Future 2012”, totaling VND1 billion (USD47,600) jointly launched by Dantri/DTiNews and AAC Language & Skills Training (www.aac-edu.vn). The scholarships are available to students of AAC. The scholarships range from VND250,000 (USD11.9) and VND16.7 million (USD795.23).
The panel members included Terry Taft, who was one of the first teachers at the school. He specialises in international communication courses, and his credentials include designing English courses for large companies and organisations. He continues to make a considerable contribution to developing English teaching and learning methods at AAC.
Nguyen Nhan Ai has a Master's in English from the Vietnam National University-Hanoi and has worked at AAC for many years. With 10-years teaching experience and love for the work, she mainly teaches English courses for international communication, commercial English and TOEIC courses.
Also included was Vu Tran Nhat Minh, a highly achieved English student from Class 9A3 of Ngo Si Lien Secondary School. Minh has won a number of prizes for English, and is able, from the perspective of learning English as a second language, give a number of valuable tips on how to succeed in perfecting language skills.
