Known as the first modern novel in history, the main theme of ‘Oliver Twist’ deals with the relation between poverty and crime reflecting the cruel treatment of the society towards the poor.

Most of its main characters, including Fagin, Bill, Nancy and Artful Dodger, lived in the modern era of the 19th century. They all became famous and could be compared with other characters of William Shakespeare.

Although it was written more than 160 years ago, the social issues in the story remain suitable with present-day circumstances.

In his work Dickens mixes grim realism and merciless satire as a way to describe the effects of industrialism.

The TNT Theatre has performed ‘Oliver Twist’ for the 5th time and received warm applause from the audiences and feedback from critics.

The drama was highly praised for its thrilling scenes of action and touch of human through Acappella pieces by Thomas Johnson, who also wrote music for ‘Hamlet’, which has been performed in more than 20 countries.

Established in 1980, the TNT Theater has staged many classical plays, including Shakespeare’s works.

Last year, it performed ‘Macbeth’ in Ho Chi Minh City, Danang and Hanoi.
